2 Sites - Sharing the same menu

Here is a brain teaser that has got me thinking for the past 2 weeks at least.
We have 2 Joomla sites.
a. www.site.com
b. second.site.com (subdomain)
1. Both Joomla sites have been installed with separate databases
2. Both Joomla sites are using the same RT template
How can both sites share the same menu and not the site content. - Many Thanks

From the 1st site we intend that there will be a link to the second site. But from that point the domain name changes to second.site.com.
Most of the menu on the second site we would like to synch or mirror from the 1st site.
I could ask the same question but in another way.
How can I use 2 domains on the same Joomla site?..
The reason for this is
1. Although both templates are the same. We would be customising the templates look on the second site.
2. The second site is more specific to a particular theme/subject.
3. If we can help it. We really don't want to keep updating external menus or links to the first site.

Why not duplicate the template and assign menus to to one of the two templates.
No need to have a second DB or sub domain.

So you're basicaly looking for synchronization menu on both sites. Take a look at this extension :
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/core-en.../multiple-sites/7725
Youre setting up 2 sites, with shared menu and links from that menu are taking you once to 1st site and next time to 2nd site.
