Help Migrating Media Mogul to Joomla 1.5

Hi there,
I need to migrate a media mogul site to Joomla 1.5. I have tried to use mtwMigrator but it seems a bit convoluted and cumbersome and I am concerned that when I install the 1.5 template there will be more customising of modules and extensions etc then it might actually be better starting the site again from scratch.
I have also tried using the rocketlauncher for 1.5 and then trying to connect to the old database but this doesn't seem to like it either.
Has anyone had to upgrade before and is there a definitve step by step guide I could refer to?

It isn't so much about migrating the template but the content and for that you are going to be best advised to use the migrator tool. Joomla 1.5 is also very different to 1.0 hence why it wont work with the old database.
My advise would be to perform the migration in a development area, install the new Joomla 1.5 template and then customise to get it looking as close, if not better with the added functionality of Joomla 1.5, as you can before putting live.
