    Help- problem with css not loading -- solved

    Posted 18 years 3 months ago
    • The problem is not tied to any one template, but all of the templates. Its a general question, not specific, so I restate it, how come did i suddenly lose css connection without knowing modifying the site? of course, I do not know when the problem occurred, because in my browser, and other people's browser who previously loaded the site, the css still works.

      Thanks in advance for an answer.

    • No I am not. I just went to another safari user, who had never opened the site, and the site loaded correctly. I put the Elixer template on there again, but it could have been any other template. Somehow Safari has not problem with the code, but opera and firefox do. What could be the problem

    • Is this problem (site not loading correctly) limited to one particular computer or many?

      What web browser is being used when the site does not load correctly?

      Can you provide a URL or images of the problem(s)?

      Cheers!

    • I'm happy, but the web site is for a trying to save a church in the East Village, and this is a critial time, so others are not exaclty amused, if not ready to kill me.

      In all browsers other than Safari, the site loads but the CSS style steets do not.
      In Safari, I can read the site without problem, not only on my computer, which could somehow have cashed it, but also on a computer that has never loaded it before, making me think that Safari can somehow swallow the bad code while explorer PC, opera and firefox are not so forgiving.
      here is the link and the pictures:

      www.savestbrigid.com/ looks fine in Safari, but it does not work no matter what template I use in other browsers. http://circularcreation.com/stuff/PictureGOOD.jpg[img] and [img]http://circularcreation.com/stuff/PictureNotGOOD.jpg[img][img] circularcreation.com/stuff/PictureGOOD.jpg and [img]http://circularcreation.com/stuff/PictureNotGOOD.jpg[img][img] and http://circularcreation.com/stuff/PictureNotGOOD.jpg[img][img] circularcreation.com/stuff/PictureNotGOOD.jpg [img]

    • That actually is not a problem, as I originally installed it before pointing to the folder that it currently resides. I was hoping to host several joomla sites on one server, but I was not able to not have the URL of the hosting site showing, so that is no longer an option. I did change the preference files, but changed them back again, checking them against an other installation for accuracy. still it works on a safari, not on anything else.

    • Looks like you are missing a / in your "livesite" setting in your configuration.php

      The header is trying to load this:
      <link href="http:/onno.us/site/SaveStBrigid//templates/rt_elixer2.0/css/template_css.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
      <link href="http:/onno.us/site/SaveStBrigid//templates/rt_elixer2.0/css/style5.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

      There's a / missing after the <link href="http:/ in the header. That's probably why it's not loading the CSS sheet.

      Fix that in your configuration.php file and you should be ok.
