    • Sounds like a rights issue, this normally happens with PHP installed stuff vs. FTP on some hosts. Try installing JoomlaXplorer and uploading via that instead of FTP.

Also this is the wrong forum to post this sort of query in ;)

    • I run into this all the time with my host. When you install php "stuff" your host has it set so that apache owns it (owner=httpd). You need the ownership changed on this file to you so you can CHMOD the file

My host taught me a work around to change it to my account ownership via their FTP Services feature in my user CP. If there is a way for you to do this, be careful. Some components need to be owned by apache to work properly (docMAN in particular) I found out the hard way.

Yup, like Dan says, give JoomlaXplorer a shot.

      Cheers!

    • But be careful, don't use joomlaXplorer v.1.5... I had big problem with its ftp feature and ended up to reinstall my joomla site. Use joomlaXplorer version 1.4 is ok.. it doesnt have that ftp feature.. but it's safe. Well, I found this on one of the review on joomlaXploref:
If your server is using PHP version 4.x, then you must use JoomlaXplorer 1.4.0 and not the 1.5.x versions.

    • Another easy way is to just save the image in a copy of the template folder. zip it. and reinstall the entire template. Just select a different template default in your admin, delete the current template, then upload the new template with the new png in it, and then change back the new template to the default!
This should only take 5 minutes max including uploading.
I actually have to do it on one of my servers because of permissions...A bit of a pain but something Im getting used to!
And this way is a whole lot faster and easier in the short term...especially if your tight on time!
