Not to be cynical but....

    • In my opinion Rockettheme has lost it's diversity. Lately every new theme is basically the same with different graphics. The layouts (module positions) are stagnant. Ever since Solar Sentinel, to me they are all the same with little variation. And the biggest problem I have is that Rockettheme templates are so bloated with java script it's ridiculous. Template load times are horrendous.
I don't endorse or work for any other template company. In fact I run 3 sites and all use Rockettheme templates (MixxMag on two, and Replicant V2 on the other). I have not updated my membership since it ran out last month and I won't until I see some significant changes.

Get rid of the bloated options. There is no reason to have 4 or 5 different menu options. Pick a menu style you like or that is the most popular and go with it. There is no reason to have to load 5 or more different js scripts to get your templates to work. Five or six scripts for every little feature you have in your templates in which the majority of users use one or less. Your templates are more and more beginning to conflict with just about every decent joomla extension out there because of your extensive use of java script.

Go back to the basics. Go back to what made Rockettheme the best (still is somewhat). Simplicity and originality. You have strayed way away from this and now the templates are stagnant as I said above. Bring back variety. Bring back target specific templates (business, portal, news, social, music, etc.). Quit developing a basic one style fits all type template. It's bloated and pointless and satisfies people only because they see the wonderful graphics you make. In practical applications the templates are near useless.

Hope this is received as constructive criticism and not blown out of proportion. It is after all just my opinion, and the opinion of a few other web devs I know of.

    • At least they are upfront about it - taken from the Mynxx frontpage:

Mootools extravaganza. A plethora of scripts.
An unprecedented amount of script enhancements for your site

    • To be fair, however, you can disable a lot of the scripts, not deploy all the modules and resource-heavy toys, and scale them back quite a bit; I think the new 'full, medium, simple style' approach is much welcomed, too.

Sure, it takes a little more to scale back nearly 300K of css and css images, but these templates can be made a bit lighter with a little work.

With all the new clubs in the works, I am sure there's not enough time each month, but I have always thought that an 'advanced' club that produces lightweight, lean and mean minimalistic script templates that look great would be popular...Afterburner meets Hivemind with some basic (10K) eye candy. ;)
