    rokmodtools cookie ERROR

Posted 15 years 5 months ago
    • I am having a problem with one of your templates.

It ofter shows a BAD REQUEST error with rokmodtools.

"size of a request header field exceeds server limit".

I tried to have a solution while my club subsciption was active, but you answered "I have already seen this"... and nobody helped me.

What am I supposed to do apart from trying to explain my users that in case that appears they should empty the cookies... hard thing to do for 1000s of students that visit my site.

The reason you're facing this issue is due to a cookie limit size of browsers which is of 4kb, yours above is 8kb. So many bytes are probably caused by the big amount of modules you've on your site.
Unfortunately this is a browsers limitation and there's not really much we can do, but you can make the cookie autoclean itself earlier, this should fix the issue.

    • Hi Djamil,

I tried your solution and tested it for some time, but it does not work.

Users have not stopped complaining of this problem and it is causing a real damage to my website.

Does anyone know how to disable altogether rokmodtools? It is creating too much trouble.

I think rockettheme should seriously look into this because it is an important issue with their templates.

      Thanx.

    • I just posted in the other thread, without seeing this.
I tried changing 365 to 30 days a month back. It still doesnt work.
I think Rockettheme really needs to put resources and investigate this .
I get this bug often these days. And since my customers are returning customers it is highely likely they expereince too. This doesnt happen in firefox.
I would also like to disable rokmodtools completely. can some one reply to this thread please

    • I'm receiving the same problem guys!
I'm using Drupal Mixxmag, and my members are becoming a little agitated at this problem. I think it's to do with how much data the RokModTools module is storing via cookies. Is there a way to use Sessions instead?

    • In order to disable RokModTools in Joomla, you need to disable 2 settings: Show Tools and Show Collapse.

You can change these from Admin > Extensions > Template Manager > rt_mixxmag_j15. In the list, switch the toggle for Show Tools and Show Collapse to No, then Save. rokmodtools.js will no longer load and the feature will be entirely disabled.
