I need some help on a good gallery for my website. I've tried phoca gallery and MorfeoShow. So far phoca has been the best one I just don't like the options on how they display the photos. Morfeoshow gives me errors on my site. Anyone have a good example of a gallery in joomla? I have joomla 1.5, jomsocial and phpbb3 forum and would like a nice gallery to display official website photos. Thanks for the help. Here is my site

I think that we might need some more information about how you would like the photos displayed. Over the past few years, I've used Phoca Gallery, Gallery2, RSGallery, Simple Gallery, and a few others. I liked Gallery2, but it did not integrate well with Joomla. I now use Phoca Gallery because it is easy to set up but has heaps of options and is integrated with Joomla. What sorts of options do you need for your galleries?
not mentioned before so i would like to add expose4 as well, it is a flash gallery and looks pretty nice i think. disadvantages seem to be that it requires legacy plugin to be enabled and there were or still are issues with seo (it does not work with sh404sef as far as i know)

I've been really happy with JoomGallery. It seems to have everything you could ever want and nearly everything is configurable through the Joomla backend.
Yeah like I said earlier I've used phoca and it worked ok, had a ton of options I just didn't like the way it was displayed. I was a clean slick looking gallery, I don't need a ton of stuff like geo tagging and stuff, but would like it to display in a lightbox. Would also be nice to have a gallery that has modules for "random pic" and stuff like that so I can display some of the photos on my home page. Sorry if this isn't specific enough, truth is I'm a total newbie

is my first site I've build. Also any advice in general about my site would be helpful as well.

I'm sorry to keep coming back to Phoca Gallery, but:
1. I don't use the geotagging facility in Phoca Gallery. It is just one of the options that I could use. If you leave the box blank, it does not use it. In the same way, I leave almost all of the other options unused. It does not slow me down, and it does not clutter up the display with unwanted information. Check one of my galleries at
www.appa.asn.au/index.php/conferences/photo-galleries
. And it displays the photos in a lightbox.
2. As you'll see on the website page linked above, I use the Random Photo module that comes with Phoca Gallery. And there are various other modules and plugins that come with the package or can be downloaded from the Phoca website.
I am not connected to the Phoca people in any way, and I do not get commission from any promotion of their products. :cheesy:
LOL thanks John, and yes your gallery is nice, but I'm just not 100% on how the thumbs are displayed that's all. Wish there was a way to make the thumbs bigger and not have anything below the thumb but maybe the pic title. The thumb size works great for your site because you have a ton of pictures. Our gallery will only display a select few photos because we use jomsocial and users can upload all their photos there....... Wow am I a pain or what? If I can't find a better solution I'll go back to phoca but I'm still looking for the "perfect" gallery..... All great input guy/gals thanks very much. And please don't stop your opinions are very helpful!
