Hi - I just upgraded to Windows 2007. I was using Adobe Fireworks to edit logos. I seem to have lost my CD for this. I now only have Adobe PhotoShop 7 which does not see the Text layer for editing of the logo like Firewworks did. I did not realize Fireworks was so expensive. Are there any other editing tools I can use to edit the logo that is more cost effective. Will Coral Paintshop pro allow me to edit the Text layer.( I found a good deal for this) I do not want to spend $200-$300 to edit a logo.

I also use JASC Paint Shop Pro. It works for me. I think the only thing one may miss is the ability to export png's with transparency. Also, the blank logos supplied with each template is in layered png format for easy editing/customization. My PSP will not recognize layered png's (fireworks format).

BTW- if you need a logo edited, send me a PM with a description of what you would like, any screen shots with examples that might help, template and color/variation that you are using and I might be able to work up a logo for you.
The more information you can provide, the better!

Fireworks is the standard for web graphic development, so it's the program RT uses.
But, there's no need to EDIT the original logo.
FYI, you can create your logo in ANY image editing software you like.
Best case is to save it as a .png as that is the extension the originals use.
Of course, you can used .jpg or .bmp, but you may run into transparency issues, as well as having to edit the image paths... - Thanks,

I was guessing that RT used Fireworks. I like the logos they develop. I will often drop the Font in my windows Font directory and use the extra effects that they provide with one of the template logo provided in the source download. A few backspaces and with a few simple character replacement of the Text layer in the "png" logo file, a new logo is created with the same font and with all the shadows etc in place. Will JASC Paint Shop Pro also allow editing like this of the source "png" logo that is provided.

No, because the logo blanks provided with RT templates are layered pngs that is in a raw, un-exported, Fireworks format. Only fireworks will let you edit the blanks.
BUT....
What you can do is, download the blanks, add the font that you want and then create the logo from scratch in PSP... PSP also has some optimize-for-web task wizards. One can export as jpeg, gif, tif, tga, or anything you want.
BTW, PSP uses it's own layering process when the file is saved as a .psp file. The image gets flattened when you process or export for web.
