Editing the mod_login

I was told to edit the "Default.php" file under "templates / templateName / html / mod_login.
But there isn't that folder in my Rockettheme template? So would the main "mod_login" on the main Joomla directory under modules work?
(In other words: Is my Rockettheme template calling up the root mod_login?)

It depends upon this:
Is the template using override for the specific module
If so, It will be located as seen here:
docs.joomla.org/How_to_override_the_outp...rom_the_Joomla!_core
Otherwise, The specific file will be there in module folder >> module name folder - Quick tips::
1) Clear your browser cache if changes dont reflect
2) Provide link to your site to help us help you better
3) Use in firebug

If I copied the "mod_login" from the Joomla Module folder to the Template folder would it then over ride it??
Or would my best bet be to just edit the "default.php" file in the Joomla Module folder on the root?

It would be better to go in with the method as suggested in the doc as it would relatively keep the changes intact while you update joomla package in future
