    Autism Materials Site on Quantive

Posted 14 years 5 months ago
    • Hello,

      Website URL: http://www.educateautism.com
      Extensions: Xmap; Mailchimp
Custom Development: Just some png and CSS changes (nothing major)
Additional Comments: Website to (hopefully) provide useful materials and educational aids for teaching children with autism.

Would really love some feedback, preferably things you don't like so that I can improve the site. My background is in product design and psychology - I learned Joomla and html from online tutorials (and a lot of trial and error) so I've likely made some mistakes with it and if anyone sees some please do let me know! :)

    • Nicely done. The information is well organized and the site is not heavy laden with too many graphics.

Music to my ears! That was the one thing I wanted to make sure I got right - great to hear that being said. Thanks for the feedback!

    • Depending on whether or not you plan to add more modules to the footer row or not, this may help.

To give your menu a horizontal layout you can add this at the bottom of your template.css file:
      #rt-footer .menu li {margin: 0; padding: 0 5px; display: inline-block;}
of course you will need to change the forced layout from 8-4 to something like 6-6 or more to keep it from wrapping.

    • That's a really great tip! I was thinking that I have a lot of blank space at the footer and was trying to come up with something to do about it but had no idea I could make that menu into a horizontal one like that.

Thanks for putting that up - above and beyond the call cdavis411, thank you!

    • I agree, this is a super clean site that is easy to read. I would balance out the bottom with more content.

      Great Job

Awesome work on the Quantive template and making it look clean, tight and easy to read. Plus, the site loads really fast! Great job!

I personally think you've nailed the design aspects of the site. It's got that web 3.0 large objects, just enough (but not too much) white space look. Again, great job, you should be proud. :-)

    • I'd take CD's suggestion on the footer or move that content to the sidebar (unless you plan to publish more content / Modules there).
    • Thanks,

It's really great to hear the design of the site is looking good - it's nice to get feedback like that especially when I think back on the 18 months (albeit in my spare-time) it took me to learn enough to get everything done and dusted. I am now a very proud man :)

I think I'm going to go with publishing content there now - maybe a featured snippet from an article/freebie I'm giving away to keep the bounce rate down for those who scroll to the bottom. I just wish we had 28 hour days so I could get the time to do it with everything else I'm trying to sort out for the site! Thanks for the feedback!
