    MU Online - Elemental

Posted 18 years 7 hours ago
    • Hi folks - first off, kudos to the RT team for the great templates and support they offer.

I switched templates from bentobox dark to VIII to Elemental (hopefully the last upgrade for a while). The reason is I was searching for a more dynamic looking site with a clean mag look considering the subject matter.

      Website URL: www.motoringunlimited.com

Additional Extensions (Components, Modules, Plug ins): monoslideshow, jw fpss, jw allvideos, jw UCD, rokzoom, roklatest, rokslide, OpenSEF, 4me and a few html/css hacks, i.e. a fix for the dreaded IE7 "aborted" issue with monoslideshow.

Upcoming: CP, forum, and mobile version.

Additional Comments: Constructive criticisms appreciated. Also, we are still adding content and tweaking the layout.

    • nice site and looks good in IE6 (at least on my pc)
one (little) point of criticism: some pictures in the monoslideshow look a little blurry

    • Thanks Sander. I was using browsershots.org to see how the site looked using various platforms (pc, mac, linux) with different browsers (ie 5-7, ff, safari, iceweasel, konqueror) but it didn't show ie6.

The blurry shots were supposed to indicate speed but I'll use photoshop and add blur lines to see if the effect is better. Now I have to figure out how to add forms and to change the background color in the content area (not module).

    • Thank you. The flash is a banner designed by the advertiser. It's published on one of the lower modules.

    • Thanks, Stuart. I moved the admin up to the top menu so its not so obvious. I'm not sure where else to put it and I haven't tested out the "special" login protocol yet.

I do have a question in general, though. The menu buttons for THE MACHINES and GEAR & TECH have content when you click on them. These buttons also have submenus. With menus with submenus, do people generally go to the submenus or do they also click on the menu button that has submenus?

I hope that isnt confusing. :)

Also, I now have to figure out how to make slimbox and stoppress work on the same page. :(

    • What module / hacks did you use to get your Latest News to look like that? Very slick.

    • Hey Daniel - Thanks. I used the RT Roklatest module. For the bento dark right column placement, I used -hilite1. And that's its. These RT guys really make a noob like me look like I know what I'm doing ;)
