    About Me/ Resume Page [Paradox]

      Purpose
I designed a simple "about me" page to send to potential recruiters for companies I might be interested in pursuing in the future.

I'd like to extend it to be a personal online resource to display pictures, information about me, coding projects and anything else I can think of to put on it. In this sense, it's my very own "web presence".

Here's a chance to learn a little bit about me! If you have any feedback about design or overall feel shoot it my way -- I would appreciate it!

    • It's quite nice. You could add some html code with images into that article.

    • No logo or photo to personalize it? I like the Twitter module, that personalizes you but the lack of a logo doesn't do it for me.

Even if you just take the stock logo and add your initials it would be better in my opinion.

      Other than that..
"send to potential recruiters for companies I might be interested in pursuing in the future."

Then why can't I easily see you contact information? If I'm a head hunter I'm not going to go into an IRC chat room to find you.

      Just my opinion anyway... :P

Other than that, it's clean and serves its purpose.

      Cheers,

      R

    • I agree with Rich on the contact information, but I disagree with him on the logo. You need one, yes, but you should put quite a bit of thought into it and not just resort to using the predrafted RT one supplied...unless of course that one fits you best :-)

Your logo should be everywhere you are: website, business cards, twitter/facebook accounts, faveicon, etc.

Also from a standpoint of a an employer I would switch out Education and Professional Experience. Your experience will be far more important to potential employers that your education (unless you have very little which you do not). I would also put quick anchor links to each section too...

      Hope that helps

      Jeff

    • I agree with the other guys, you need a logo and at least a contact form, or some other contact details, Skype, MSN, HipChat, etc...

What if you are not online when I want to contact you?

AFAIK, IRC doesn't save history (for very long)... don't link to an 'empty room'.

    • Hey yall, some very helpful feedback in this thread. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I think a "contact me" form would do the trick on the site -- great idea.. It was lacking this feature, I'm glad you guys spotted it. :)

In regards to a logo, I've been thinking about this for some time. I think I may pull the trigger and open up a logo contest over at 99designs.com/ . I think you guys have a valid point about the logo -- it really becomes a personal brand.

    • I'm wondering if you're hosting at GoDaddy? Your site seemed to take some time to load and it shouldn't. I had problems with a couple of different hosts and ended up using Rochen, the host recommended by Rocket Theme and the same host for Joomla.org. Needless to say problems went away and the sites always load extremely fast.

    • No I'm not hosting with GoDaddy - it's pretty cheap for me to run monthly and it's on a shared server so I'd imagine speed is not on the top of the list. It takes me on average 2.1 seconds to load the site (which is pretty awful) but manageable.

How long did it take you to load? If Rochen can provide a faster server for a comparable cost I'll certainly look into this option -- thanks, you've given me something to consider.

    • Host Gator is another option to consider.

      100% Joomla and RT compatible.

Many of the mods here host with them for that reason.

I've tested more that 80 RT templates on HG and never ever had a problem installing, configuring, etc.

For shared hosting, it's quite affordable, prices are comparable to GD, with no headaches.

      Plus their support is fantastic!

    • I should be OK (for the time being) with hosting -- if you guys experience anything else PM me because I would like to monitor this site's load time. Thanks RocketTheme for the groovy templates.
