I decided this template fit my needs the best. I didn't use it as a e-commerce template however, and it is not quite finished. I have my debug menu up still.
I just tried loading in IE8 and it seems fine. It still seems slow to load and process Javascript in Firefox but that is not you, it's the template. Firefox 4 will probably sort that.
Wow! I'm on a crappy 1meg wireless skywave internet connection. This guys site, I don't see how it could really load faster. What are you guys running to make yourself say it is slow? dialup?
I have finished a mercado site that takes way longer to load than this guys mercado site. Mine is loaded with images, it's discouraging to think the template is generally 'slow' as well.
How does one go about fixing a site to run fast, other than the obvious, photo optimization, etc?
Commerce Site with Metropolis magento 1.7- Wood Signs
mjindustry - It loads fine with IE, no speed problems there. I only encounter a speed / Javascript Lag with Firefox 3.6.16. Possible I have a problem with my installation of Firefox. I tried disabling the addons but did not notice any difference. I am on a 5MB Connection / Windows 7 - 64 Bit / 4 GB Ram
Update: I just tried the site and demo on a new laptop and they run fine so I would have to conclude that the speed and lag was down to my installation of Firefox or even the PC.
Agree with mjindustry, some pics might complement the site.
Thank you for your input. I'm in the process of compiling some decent photographs from him. I have yet to have any speed issues no matter what browser i have used, i used 3 different computers to test out the look and feel of the website. Maybe i have gotten lucky?
Anyway thank you again for the feedback, i think having pictures is a great idea and i will incorporate that as soon as possible,
