Local Hotel Site using Colormatic theme

  • Local Hotel Site using Colormatic theme

    • I've modified the Colormatic theme (slightly) and incorporated the existing online reservations service using the wrapper - pretty simple, but effective. Also used a Google Maps component for the directions.

Still have some work to do, so suggestions are welcome.

      Thanks,
      Tom

    • :-\ Looks good but you could refine it even more - especially since it is a static site. This is all visuals I am referring to. As, far as layout and function THUMBS UP. But it could look more refined.

Example - Contact us -- Kind of big horizontal picture (vs the little vertical one you have now) on the left forcing all the contact info to the right and loosing the icons.

The main menu bar - loose the two tone effect and go for a solid color (that one is hard to tell to you look at it, so, I am guessing)

Logo - I always want a big logo at the top, but then after awhile I wish it was smaller so I can see more of the content. Plus that extra space between the top and the Picture Mountain is HUGE (also, shouldn't the mountain picture be right flushed more?)

Useful links - same thing with the contact (a pic on the left but maybe not as big - you always have to play with those things) - a stupid short cut because I am sure you cannot lose the Icons without going into the template is -- make the Icon image clear and smaller. Like I said stupid short cut.

The Icons just take away from your color scheme which is nice.

Ads at the bottom of home page look cheesy compared to the rest of the site, but then cheesy sales.

IMPORTANT!!!! Create a Favicon to match the site.

      Take it or leave it.

Hey, can I start charging a consultation fee? LOL Actually, I just answer the way I wish people would answer me. Cause it sucks designing websites. Ok, it can suck, but a lot of times it is fun sitting on your butt aimlessly trying to get everything to look great only to open in a different browser to see it doesn't line up.

Hope it is what you were looking for - also - you cant do auto add on the Reservation?? So, that the bottom will go up, yeah, I know you probably already tried.

    • Thanks, Jamie. I'm going to use a bunch of your suggestions.

The ad at the bottom was supplied by the client - cheesy, I agree.

Also, the reseravtions page in the wrapper is hosted off site, so I can't scale the Iframe, which is too bad.

      again, thanks for the feedback.

    • Don't move the mountain right. The way the logo overlaps it just slightly adds a lot of depth.

I agree that the contact image should be larger.

Nice job.Good use of the slideshow.

    • Actually, I'm gonna replace the mountain with an image of the building. I'll also make the copy below the logo stand out a bit more.

Thanks again. This forum is one of the best resources for Joomla and design.

      Cheers!

    • Can anyone tell me what the error mgiht be that's reported in both IE7 and Mozilla?

    • I opened the site in IE7, but I don't get an error on any of the pages. Can you post the error here ?

One tip: the icons on the links and contact us pages, remake them so they are brown or green in the style of the complete site.
And I agree with Jamie, loose the two tone menubar and make it solid color.

FOr the rest 2 thumbs up, good use of colors and pleasant to the eye.
