I was very pleased with the design features in this Internet Gazette mod -

He did a fabulous job and it fit in with everything I required.
I was looking to something similar, but didn't want to bother with magazine modules, which also limit design ability.
After looking at the futboli site, I decided I would work with a similar layout, but with some difference to automate the display of new items.
The designer of futboli mentioned how he acheived the final look, but he also mentioned he used the newsflash module for the layoul. And by doing so, he had to make two copies of every item - the main full article, and an intro that he would copy from the full article and add the 'Read More' link by hand editing.
I thought that process would be too tedious and time consuming for a site that updates frquently - so I acheived a similar look, without have to hand code the front page.
It would also make it difficult for other users that have the ability to post articles without approval. They would have to now how to do the tedious process... it would cause limitations on updates, etc.
The process is as simple as posting the entire article as usual, and the rest is taken care of automatically, like any Joomla out of the box.

I really liked the horizontal memu system with the drop down feature, but I discovered a problem with it that popped up in Joomla a couple of updates ago.
Basically, it causes a problem with search engine indexing, which can cause serious problems in the Google index.
Some of you may recall a URL issue in 1.05? I believe - Joomla made several copies of the same article with various URLs.
That was enought to dump all my sites main .com URL out of Joomla.
I noticed the drop down menu system somehow assigned a different URL to articles and at first I thought I had an old Joomla install. But after further investigation, I realized it was the menu system.
I immediately removed the drop down menu feature.
Other than that, the template is wonderful.
