    • I don't like your Home page. On my screen (768px deep) all I see (without scrolling) is the page header, Search and an ad.

      People HATE scrolling.

Also, I always look for Home on the main menu, not the Top menu - just a suggestion

    • I think its great. I don't see any issues with the width of the screen.

    • No problem with the width of the screen, but when you visit the site you don't see any content until you scroll down - one third of the page is the header, one third is a Search box, and one third is an advertisement.

Believe me, that's not good design.

    • Thanks for the comments guys! Sorry didn't get back on sooner.

Graham U hit the nail on the head, thats one of my gripes with the site too.
Just struggling to fit everything in! I need the banners on the side, and the featured listing, log in, etc etc.
Any advice for organising things better is welcome!

I've haven't been able to decide if I should put the Directory on the Homepage or the News as it is. The directory is the aim of the site and our income stream via monthly debit orders, but I figure the news is what will keep people coming back often.

I had a home button on the main menu, but again struggled for space in the menu bar. You'll notice the first button 'news' links to the homepage. Too confusing u think?

Hopefully will get the gallery up soon. I launched the forum a couple months back but it hasn't had toooo much response. Wondering if I should can it. A dead forum could turn people (especially clients) off the site, thinking its not being visited. Our hits are increasing steadily every single month though.

The mobile climbing wall is to both generate an extra income, but also to get the Extremely SOuth Africa name out there. We collect email address' at shows for the mailing list and try keep that growing with fresh people all the time.

Extremely SA is my first Joomla site and I started on my second this week. This is for a client of mine, Skyjacks Tailifts. www.tailifts.co.za

All comments are greatly appreciated ;D

      Cheers
      Wayne

    • I'd get rid of the menu right at the top of your screen - that'll pick up about 20-30px. You've currently got 2 Search menus. Cut it back to one and have it as a link (ie no boxes). You don't need the font change and put Home on your main menu. I'd have 'About us' as the second menu item. I'd look to 'balance' the Home page - left module, body and right module about same height. I don't know why you have so many links at the base of the home page?
Also, I'd suggest you only have pics with, say, two of your front page articles. Just text with the others but when 'Read more' is clicked iimages will appear. You can do this by selecting that mosimage (assuming you use mosimage) not appear on Frontpage and for the 2 items you wish to have images for use the HTML tag <img src=...> instead of mosimage

    • I took the 3 banners at the top out, tried them on the bottom then took them out completely.
I put a smaller search bar on the left.
I can unpublish the top menu, but don't know how to take out the top search bar and text size button?

Does that mean I would have to keep changing the image tag as the news item drops down? I do use mosimage.
I changed it to display two news items underneath eachother, then 2 vertical columns under that, with 5 links to the recent news. News sometimes fills up quick so I don't want the current items to be on the next page out of first sight. Better?

    • can anybody help with removing the top search bar and font change? I don't see modules for those so it must be in the template.
