A little constructive notes...
1. The page is way too cluttered in my opinion. The great thing about HiveMind is that is it clutter free and clean. By adding all of the stuff all over the place it make it hard to find stuff. Simplify the main page and use more links to hit the main stories. Use the tools on the page to put your main stuff on. I too am using the HiveMind Template, making other pages to hold content in a categorized display will make a much more enjoyable environment for your visitors.
2. Mac's are all about the graphics, don't be afraid to use the rokRotator to show off the power of the Mac. Befriend a Mac guy or gal (in my case it is a really good looking WOMAN) and use favors (favours for you Englishmen) for each other to get the graphics you so need.
3. Limit your page's total length. Just like in google do you REALLY go to page 224 to find your results? But you do click on links right from the first 20 or so right... Utilize these techniques from major sites and put them in play on yours.
4. Stories, Articles, Helpful topics are EXTREMELY important, but having the ability to find that information is MORE important.
5. Overall.... Good site, I think you have a pretty good niche to get into.
Good Luck, take all, some or none of my advise, because it is just MY advise.
1 - Are you talking about introducing the RokSlide Powered Tabbed module and then only showing a couple of posts on the first page?
2 - Great idea, will add the RokHeadRotator but I'm slighlty concerned that it will put users off?
3 - I've reduced the posts on the home page down to 8, do you think I should reduce it more?
4 - Point taken, more guides and very unique content is coming up.
Anyone else got any points to add?
