netTerriers.com with Media Mogul....

    • Any feedback much appreciated on my FIRST Joomla based site at www.netTerriers.com/

Its J!1.5, Media Mogul, and with the default out of the box phpBB theme header faked to include the logo and menus etc from the main Joomla site.

Reasonably happy with it, and planning on spending the next few weeks drawing up a load of nice little thumbnail images to break up some of the text a bit.

Previously used WordPress (see archive.netTerriers.com), decided we need a spruce up over Christmas, so hunting around for WordPress themes to enhance I ended up coming across the Populus template....blew me away...then spent the next 2 weeks fiddling with Joomla to try and understand how to USE it...once I was happy it was a solution I could, came back to rockettheme, signed up, by which time MediaMogul was released and I thought...."I'm having a bit of that!". ;D

    • I was expecting to see dogs :( Like maybe a Cairn Terrier, Fox Terrier, et al.

Oh, well, it's a nice site anyway. ;)

    • Would you mind telling me how you got the the forum to appear with the joomla header and menu? It looks quite nice and I'd like to do that.

    • Basically get all your menu's etc set up as normal, then visit your site, do a 'save source' so save off the rendered HTML.

Then, in phpBB, edit the 'overallheader' file so it contains the stylesheet includes and the few bits of HTML relating to the menu generation that you can cut from the rendered HTML file you saved off.

Then refresh the style in the ACP of phpBB and you're away.

I think there may be a more technical description somewhere on this site (I got the idea from somewhere on rockettheme anyway!) - but I think I kind of got the general gist of it, tweaked around for 10 minutes and surprised myself by how easy it actually was!

Only downsides I have is that mine included sheets need tidying as the site has a slight ugly issue in IE6, and if you change any menu items you have to update the phpBB style.

I appreciate the reply. I will be making an attempt at this soon. :) Good times happening. Love Rockettheme, Joomla, and Rockbridge!

I'm looking for the same with MediaMogul and phpbb3. I am praying that someone can come up with a good guide. :)

    • I like your site as well and how you integrated the forum. I'm using phpBB 2.x and Joomla 1.x and just decided to use cbconnector to combine the two. It worked well and I'm very pleased and they have a cbwrapper that is supposed to pull the forum into the site (this I haven't tried yet). The only mod I made to the plugin is changing the register link in the forum to redirect back to the community builder registration to keep the users organized.

Just another possible solution to look into:

We took some time today and worked out integrating the header/footer of Firenzie into our phpbb3 forum. We had a ProGrey template ( a customized template based on ProSilver) on our forum which made it a pain to integrate with Firenzie. I'm thinking if you have the basic ProSilver it will be much easier to integrate.

    • Hi..:-)..

I checked your site out and I really liked the effect that clicking on the pictures on the frontpage had.
I was wondering if you could tell me what does one have to do to have the same effect.

      regards
      Alim
