Technology Gateway - Solar Sentinel (Updated 20/05/09)

I know this has been done a million times before but this basically just a tech web directory! Key concepts are:
- Free basic listings - email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
- Low cost advanced lisitngs - Logo=£10/year, Description=£10/year
- For 3 months (from May 2009) - Free feature article on homepage provided to any tech based site
- From August 2009 - Low cost feature article on homepage provided to any tech based site
The site has been around for a while but I'm giving it a major overhaul over the next few weeks

Hi. Nice colour scheme. ;D But afraid it was too slow to load each page for me to want to stay for more than 15 seconds. Don't get me wrong! I wanted to! But couldn't. >

FWIW I think it is a terrible choice for a tech site. Since tech sites are primarily filled with text a light background is much easier on the eyes. Media Mogul or, if you want to slip some color in there, Synapse might be a better choice. Also, and I know this is your test site, if you plan to go forward with a tech site you will need a niche that is all your own. There tons of worthless tech sites out there that simply regurgitate news and reviews from the main tech sites.

I agree with David. I'm not a big fan of Dimensions, unless it's really sharp and the light mod as well. Also, if you really want just a regurgitating news site, I'd suggest a much simpler layout with lots of rss feeds.

Thanks for this.
Comments re Dimensions I think are right. It is looking messy and lots of text is not easy to read.
Also, in terms of niches, I'm thinking of giving it a CMS bias. Concentrating on Joomla, Drupal and the like. Also thinking about putting together a Joomla Sites/Plugins directory with option for free basic listings etc.
