    • We have just finished a re-design of a Joomla user group site using Zephyr

      Visit it at http://theplanetjoomla.com

      Featuring

      JomSocial

      and
hwdMediaShare, a media software suite for the Joomla CMS. We aim to enable Joomla webmasters to easily create media-rich online communities. Use hwdMediaShare to give your website users a dynamic, interactive experience.

    • Your the first JUG website I have seen here on RocketTheme. I think it is good for a group site, but the only thing I notice is - it really doesn't say what it is when you first get to the site. Yes, I know, big Official Banner on the top, but if I was a newbie - I would not know what an Official JUG was.

The only reason I am bringing this up - is, well, your a community depended on members...so, you want to be a friendly and accessible as possible to any potential newbie member.

      Peace Out,
      Wingman

    • Well, first off I have to agree it takes a little digging to see what you're all about. However the absolute first thing that came to mind is the different fonts used. It looks like you are using Google or another foundry's fonts streamed on the first two headers, and the rest are a different client-side font. Make them all one or the other IMO.

Also, the images of the main showcase rotator: are you certain none of those images are copyrighted? I ask only because you have images of some pretty prominent ships there.

The site is riddled with errors both grammatical and structural. I would have everything combed over thoroughly and run through a reliable spell/grammar checker. An example is at this page [ theplanetjoomla.com/reviews/item/1-projectfork.html ]. It is so riddled with errors and different font sizes it makes it quite unreadable in my opinion. And that is not good because it seems like you have great content but these problems are making it less accessible.

Looks like your menu items "Videos" and "Movies " are VERY similar if not the same. This is very confusing to users and the menu items are quite separated as well. In fact I would rework the entire menu and allow the Welcome item to be the far left, and work progressively from there in a logical manner. As a note the menu active does not work in forums, I am guessing because it is Kunena and doesn't have the code necessary to facilitate such an action.

I hope this helps and good luck on your hard work!

      Jeff
    • When someone is impatient and says, "I haven't got all day," I always wonder, How can that be? How can you not have all day?

:arrowu: I'd rather have my site perfect in one language than perfect in one language and junk translations for the rest of the content.

Honestly, if you can't proofread (and edit) what is being translated by Google, you don't know what visitors are seeing.

It seems obvious when I visit the site that English (hopefully) is not the original language, rather I get a Google translation of the original content.

If you really want the site to be multilingual consider using a translation manager and translating one or two languages and getting it right.
