Bug when changing languge file

    • Found a bug in mission control today when editing the en-GB.tpl_rt_missioncontrol_j15.ini in the admin language directory.

If you add EXTEND=Manage, it breaks the Wide Extend Menu format/selection. You get a single column after that.

After some usability testing by a group of 5, that was one of the top confusing words for them and we would like to change it to Manage instead of Extend while also using the wide menu format.

Anyone know of a fix for that?

    • hi there,

not 100% sure but i tried and tested and it seems to work...

      in ../administrator/templates/rt_missioncontrol_j15/lib/rtmenuhelper.class.php

find all instances of "extend" and change them to "manage".

    • That was one of the first things I tried. While the menu continues to works fine, the double wide doesn't seem to work for me when I do that. Still a single column menu :P

    • hi again,

maybe i am misunderstanding the thing with the "double wide".
after i changed the title from 'extend' to 'manage', the menu looks the same to me, only the title has changed of course, see screenshot.

    • In the template settings you have a setting, "Wide Extend Menu". Which creates a 2 column menu like the attached screenshot :)

    • hi again,

ah i see. there are a lot of references to 'extendmenu' in a lot of files and not sure where exactly that needs to be adjusted to fit the new menu name. also other references may need to be changed to keep the double menu working properly.

    • This has been fixed in version 2.0 for Joomla 1.7 as the 1.5 version of MC will no longer be developed.

    • Andy, really sad to hear that 1.5 is being dropped!

Joomla 1.5 is the core we will use until 1.8 comes out as the next LTR, for Joomla. I guess we'll have to back-port some of these fixes since we have made MC our core admin screen with docs and videos based on it.

Any chance you might re-consider keeping it alive for 1.5 until 1.8 is out, and stable?

    • This is a GPL project that I basically run on my free time, which is limited. 1.7, and then 2.5 is the platform going forward and I think my efforts are best served focusing on that. If i get time, i'll consider backporting some of the fixes to the 1.5 version, can't promise anything though.

    • Thanks Andy.

I guess I need to revisit the Joomla roadmap since it's somewhat of a moving target ;)

BTW, our customers RAVE about MC. That kind of design would have been great to have in the Joomla admin from day 1.
