    MC in upcoming RoketLaunchers?

Posted 13 years 5 months ago
    • It would be pretty sweet to have MC bundled with the RL installs!!! Its bad enough that I already have a list of like 10000000000 things to do first once i get a site up. MC is such a MUST have, i cant imagine working on any sites without it. If you guys bundle it with the templates or the RL, i'll only have 9999999999 things to do first once i get a site up! =)

You guys rok! (cheezy i know =) But seriously, without RocketTheme it wouldnt be possible for a guy like me to have so much fun making websites.

    • We have talked about this, but using a 3rd party admin template, even if MC is far superior, cough, cough, is still and 'advanced' thing for most users. Tutorials, books, documentation, etc always assume you are running the default khepri/bluestork templates and if we through MC into the mix it would confuse a lot of people.

Also, there's 3rd party extensions to consider. Every extension developer uses khepri/bluestork as their working copy when they create their extensions. I've never known a developer to test against other 3rd party admin templates, and even though we strive to make MC as compatible as possible, we can't guarantee 100% compatibility. This is mainly because every developer does their own thing to ensure that it looks good by default, and often this ends up being shoddy coding, and overzealous CSS usage.

For these reasons we have decided not to include it by default in the Rocketlaunchers. It is the first thing I personally install as I find it hard to use the regular admin now :) Thanks for the compliments though, hopefully we can make some positive ground in the Joomla 3.0 to improve the admin experience for all.
