Problem with translations and Rok modules

    • Hi there!

I'm having an issue with MC and its modules (RokUserStats, RokAdminAudit and RokUserChart.

I'm using Joomla 1.7.3 and up-to-date versions of MC and modules (2.2).

My site is in Spanish and the translations seems to work fine but I noticed the first string on every module doesn't work, just show the code:
This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

      MC_RUS_CURRENT_ACTIVE_USERS
      MC_RUC_TITLE
      MC_RAA_LOW

      Strange, uh?

The second thing is that I have used RokUserStats on the frontend but it doesn't translate. Maybe it wasn't designed to be there.

      Hope you could help.

BTW Andy Miller, MissionControl is a superb theme that I'm including on every site I build. I appreciate the fact that you placed a convenient example for 3rd party extensions as I'm asking my providers to adjust their components to MC.

Thank you so much for your work!

    • not sure why teh first lang of very module wouldn't translate. We're just using Joomla's JTEXT::_() method. Do you have any other translation oddities perhaps outside of MissionControl? Also the frontend module wasn't translated so that is normal for it not to be translated.

Glad you like MC! I enjoyed doing it and it makes using Joomla a pleasure again, at least for me :)

    • Hi Andy!

I haven't noticed any problems with other components as everything seems to be working okay. Quite strange I'm replicating the site on local so I'll see if there's something I'm missing.

As you said, now it's a pleasure to work with Joomla. Thanks a lot!

    • Hi Andy!

Back again. I have found something quite strange about this issue.

I have a MAMP locally installed on a Mac. I replicated my site locally and the template and modules worked perfect.

I have made a backup and restored it on my hosting and, guess what, the first lines aren't translated. So it's something about my hosting.

Hosting PHP version is 5.2.14 and local is 5.3.5.
Hosting DB version 5.1.50 and local is 5.5.9
Joomla is version 1.7.4 and Missioncontrol is up-to-date

I don't know whether asking to change this settings will do the trick or it's something else.

      Thanks for your help!

    • Hi Andy!

I did a complete fresh install, now on Joomla 2.5.1 and still getting these strings untranslated.

Do you think is something related to my hosting?

      Thanks a lot!

    • I think it must be because i've done several tests with 2.5.1 and have not had a problem. Nor have I seen anyone else report this. I really have no clue where to even start looking :(

    • Hi Andy!

The most stupid solution I found is to add an extra empty line to every module translation file. It's working perfect now!

Thanks also for updating the Spanish translation with mine. I'll post new translations of the modules too if you like.

      Cheers!
