Fireworks - Four-Corner Gradient?

    • Is there any way to create a four-corner gradient in Fireworks CS3 or better?

I am trying to blend a background image into a two-color vertical gradient, but there doesn't seem to be a way to put a horizontal transparency gradient over the object. The way I have been able to do this in the past with other software was to put say "blue" in both the top right-hand and left-hand corners and then "grey" in the bottom right-hand and left-hand corners. I would then make the colors on the right (or left) sides completely transparent, creating the effect I am looking for. That doesn't appear to be an option in Fireworks, however... :(

I looked through the RocketTheme background sources in Fireworks, but it appears the way they are able to accomplish this effect is by pasting several layers of partially transparent objects over a gradient. This is a good idea, but impossible to achieve with a single-layered object like a photo I believe?

      Thank you!

      Later.

    • I actually kinda answered my own question, though it isn't performed quite the way I figured it would through the use of a four-point gradient.

Using a somewhat similar idea to what RocketTheme has done with their backgrounds, you can select a bitmap and then go to "Commands" > "Creative" > and then "Auto Vector Mask". This will allow you make a portion of your bitmap transparent while keeping the rest of it solid. If you place the image on top of the gradient like the "blue" and "grey" one I mention above, you'll get basically the same effect I was after.

      Fun stuff.
