How does RT work out what sites themes are installed on?

Just out of curiosity, how does RT know what themes ive used on what domains?
Im new and when i signed up i didnt select a domain im going to use the theme on, so how do they know?
does something in the code let them know?
Im just interested how you distrobute something and stop people re-using it?
Ive wanted to sell a product in a similar manor via a subscription but im afraid of people downloading it and using it 100's of times when only entitled to use it on one domain etc..
How do you link the user and the website?

Every protection can be removed. Doesnt matter how much effort you will put in registration methods - thiefs will break it up.
I always say 50% of the deal is the great support here in the forum that is only available to members. And thats how it is I guess: the team treats customers with respect and will be (hopefully) rewarded with honesty.
