    • Some editors have the option to embed flash.

Otherwise, youll have to add the embedding code yourself.

      So, it is possible :)

    • exactly there are a few ways to do it the most straightforward way (the one i will tell you here) to go about it is to grab flash, open the .fla and make sure it's dialed in where you want it and then hit publish. It should by default create the .swf as well as an HTML page with an embed code for that particular .swf

just an FYI .fla is for flash file and .SWF is for Shockwave File. Shcokwave is what plays it in the browser aka flash plugin and the flash file (.fla) is the precomiled source for the shockwave file. .swf is the the end result you end up with fter the .fla has been compiled by flash. you can not edit the .swf in flash only the .fla. I think i just amde that mroe confusing then it was before. if you need any help PM me and i will run you through it.

make sure you know where the .fla is because it will publish the files to that location. open the .html document in whatever app you use or even view its source and then highlight and copy the tags that read from < embed > to < / embed > that is your embed code. since it was created in flash it will have more info on the size of the .swf and so forth in there. I always toss my .swf's into the media folder inside a folder i make called flash if you follow the same set up the link will read exactly as follows but substitute your.swf with the name of your .swf file. ( ../media/flash/your.swf ) the file will show up if you have done everything right.

    • The TinyMCE Editor has an insert Flash button - see attached image.

As mentioned above, you will want to be using .swf files and NOT .fla files.

      Cheers!

    • Now If you have a .fla file that you want to keep a fla file, for instance say a video, you would need a .swf player to call it in.
Like mentioned above most joomla editors have an insert flash menu button. But if you want your site to use the .fla you will need a player to use it. as in a for video as an example you would have to upload eg player.swf and in this case if it where to call up .fla files you would also need to upload a .xml file or .txt file that the player would call the .fla files from. keeping them all in the same directory to make it simple

    • your thinking .flv not .fla

.fla is the source code for the .swf before its compiled. when you hit publish it compiles the whole thing into a nifty little package but you still have the .f;a in case you need to make some changes and sofrth. or test it live. But you're right about having an xml file load other .swf's or FLV (flash video files), you can also load external text files via xml for SEO purposes cause we all know flash blows for SEO cause its all compiled into the file.

    • oh now I feel like a dip! SH(*t yes that's what I meant .flv Im half asleep at the wheel!

Yeh I used Flash for years and like you mentioned Gerald it blows for SEO. Im really starting to like ajax etc now for gallerys where I used to be big on flash gallerys!

Still Flash has its place...maybe a few more years till world wide connections get faster before I thing of pushing it harder than I do now!

    • I agree with you totally. I love the cool looks and transitions and other effects you can manage with flash, but Ajax seems like a much better gallery solution for practical reasons.
