How to put a broadband speedtest on your Joomla site

    • Put a really cool (I think so anyway) speedtest on my new Joomla site and i thought I'd share it with you.

You can see this at waynespcworld.co.uk/web-design/speedtest

1: Go to www.speedtest.net/mini.php and download the package.

2: Extract the files and upload the speedtest folder to your images/stories folder.

3: Insert the speedtest swf file into your document (make sure that it is also stored in the images/stories folder

4: Hey presto a working speedtest on your Joomla website.

Now the next question is..... Can anyone turn this into a joomla module?

      Enjoy

    • Here you are :D
You can download it here . I can't attach the file because the size is too big.
Also, I resized all the images there. You still can download the original (~100mb) images from www.speedtest.net/mini.php and replace the images at : /module/mod_speedtest/speedtest/ folder

Disclaimer: This is not official RocketTheme extension. I just created that for fun :D
Let me know if you have any issue.

Now then, are you showing off with your upload speed :D

How long did it take you? Can you recomend a good tutorial for making modules as i have some ajax domain search script which i would like to convert to a joomla module.

      Thanks so much!

    • Yeah, I've been using that site and utility for years! It's pretty good and find it pretty consistent with other methods/sites. They have really added a lot of testing locations in the last year and find it pretty reliable. I also use the pingtest they offer!
