Good books etc for learning php

I can pretty much write half decent html and css in notepad, without the need for dreamweaver (but it makes the job so much quicker lol), but my php is dire, I can read it and understand mostly what things do but for the life of me cant write it. Does anyone know of any good resources of books to learn it ?, im picking it up slowly and can edit it to a certain extent but im useless as writing it from scratch like I can with html and css.

- I suppose it comes under the same sort of thing but I would be interested in developing joomla modules etc so not sure if any of the php is specific to joomla or if its just generic php.
