"Learn More" buttons found in most templates

  • "Learn More" buttons found in most templates

    • Hi everyone
Just a quick question regarding the "Learn More" buttons and how they are created.
I've noticed them on many Joomla templates from RT and within the articles specific to that area.
      Code something like:
      [readon2 url="index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=85&Itemid=141"]Learn More[/readon2]

Can someone give me a basic description on how this works.

Thanks so much for your help

    • In the WYSIWYG editor when composing an article, there is a button named Read More that will insert a Read More link where ever you want in the content. Also some modules will automatically trim the text after a set amount of characters and will insert a Read More link at the end of the truncated text.

      I hope that this helps.

    • Thanks Bob
Yeah I'm well aware of the read more option in the editor.
This "Learn More" button is somehow generated by this line of code place in the body of text within the editor.
      [readon2 url="index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=85&Itemid=141"]Learn More[/readon2]
      Got me stumped!!!!

    • Fyi, you can set the Read More to whatever text you want, ie: Learn More. Perhaps that is what you talking about?

      Cheers

    • I thought that as well Bob

No that button is generated from that line of code because when I remove the code the button goes as well

      Cheers

    • if you open an article on your site up for editing, for example open the Background Rotator article and view the Parameters (Advanced) area you will see where you can input the text for the Read More button.

      I hope that this helps.

      Cheers
