How to add and icon to a menu item?

I know this isn't really a Theme issue, but I have been getting such great help here lately I figure I would try here first.
For a certain menu item (linking to my smf forum), I don't get the option to select a menu image...instead I get the "manager" box... can I use this to select an icon for this menu item???
