Why Fireworks and not Photoshop/Illustrator ?

  • Why Fireworks and not Photoshop/Illustrator ?

    • hi,

I was wondering how come you recommend Fireworks for editing the logos ect.. on your templates but no Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator?

      Thanks
      Danny

    • Fireworks is recommended as the source is full editable in Fireworks, not in the softwares you mentioned.

Rocket Theme use Fireworks as it is the best in respects to designed web designs. If you are capable of using the other softwares, why not use them for logo design.

Most members just want to change the text of the logo, not an elaborate design so Fireworks will be the best to do this.

    • lol

Well i have Fireworks CS3 and Photoshop CS3 extended and i feel as thou i have more freedom to design with Photoshop than i do with Fireworks, Don't get me wrong Fireworks is Awesome, but i just feel restricted in certain aspects!
But i don't create websites (Hence the membership on here lol) so i can't really comment, But i know what you mean James when you say its better for the source is fully editable in Fireworks!

      Thanks

    • It needs to be put into context though.

Photoshop and fireworks are aimed at different targets all together.

The name -photo-shop- might give something away. It's more designed for print media. Heavier files with greater detail.

Fireworks is aimed at web sites, and handles vector much better than Photoshop which is designed for bitmaps.

Illustrator is aimed primarily at vector images as well but with mroe power and control, and is aimed at artists.

    • I used to wonder the same myself because I am an oldschool photoshop boy myself.

I found fireworks a bit constricting at first as well. But after I got used to it I don't even load photoshop up now except for the rare Text modification (which PS does do better generally)
