    • Hello

      I want to develop a site that will allow a facebook like advertising for clients. Im sure some guys here will know what I mean. I have only seen a glimpse of the system, but you can select the demographics you want for your campaign along with spend amount. The advert is also only shown in areas of your choice

      Can I buy an out of the box solution or would I need to have one developed for me?

      Any help would be good thanks

      OR

      A Facebook 'Like' button system that people can click on to 'Like' something?

      I have a idea for a site which is a mix of dating and chat but with some other bells and whistles I think will drive visitors to the site. So From what I have seen of Jomsocial, it may not fit the bill, at least not without plenty of work to make it fit for my purpose. I want specific parts added to the site (one of which Im sure isnt around and one that is but needs to be adapted)

      Also, I know sites like Facebook and Plenty of Fish allow users to place adverts on the site themselves as a source of revenue. These adverts can be targeted at specific target customers by virtue of a 'back end' system (I have no idea what it is called) but you add funds, select ages, areas to advertise, singles, etc etc. I want to utilise something like this also but tailored to my own needs.

      I realise this may sound a little sketchy right now, But I am not a developer and while I have the idea, implementing the same is going to be slow :-)

    • It sounds like good idea but also a big task, what your asking for probably wont exist as an out of the box solution and will need to be custom built.

      Its certainly possible though!

      Unfortunately i dont think i would like the task of handling such a project as im crazy busy, have you tried pitching anything to developers on Scriptlance or similar sites?

      Just make it clear what you are after, and that it has to be an extension you can install into Joomla 1.7 and see what they quote you.

      Majority of programmers are based in India, so the prices are usually very cheap, if you find a good programmer then your in luck! Make sure you check the reviews before you commit though as many listers (like ebay) are bad eggs!

      I have spent some time looking at the Jomsocial plugins and a lot of what I want (maybe with a bit of re code, is already there)

      Yes, I have thought of freelancing the work out through Freelancer or Guru but need to know what the best way of working this would be for future site security etc

      I took a look at your site also before, looks great, hope things are going well
