I am in process in building out a pretty large website. Using joomla, jomsocial, loginradius and we need a blogging component.
The blog is just for us, we are not using it for the jomsocial members, so we don't need that capability. I have run all of my blogs off of wordpress in the past. I am concerned with the capability to ping other blogging platforms as well as the other backend stuff that wordpress does to promote blogs.
I also plan to integrate my social login capability from loginradius into the commenting section of the blog section as well.
I know that there is a plugin
wordpress.corephpdemos.com/
that basically integrates wordpress into joomla... although it seems like this may be a little too much and prefer not to have another competing system included that I assume requires a second database.
Then I was looking at the
getk2.org/
plugin which is also pretty expandable and does more than just blogging.. but it looks like this one is free.
I have found a few others that look like they don't really have the backend pining stuff going on.
I would highly appreciate anyone's advice on the matter!
I am a fan of '
ZOO
' over Joomla's com_content; the one drawback is that you would have to use some fancy SQL to migrate from Zoo back to com_content, as the entries are kept in zoo-related tables and not in the core tables.
...probably a migration script floating around in the extension directory/zoo site, too, which would make that drawback moot.
We use K2 for a lot of different things, it is flexible but I rarely refer to it as a blog. We happen to use it more for article sections, and to have more options with typical pages.
We also use Easyblog, it's a good simple blog with a few good themes to customize it. I think it lacks some simple features - but then again, I haven't updated/used it in quite some time (it was for a client)
