site index.php showing blank related to sporticus v2 template

Posted 17 years 7 months ago
    • I have a site that uses sporticus v2 template.

Has been working for three months without problem.

Yesterday the sites index.php started to just returns a blank page.

      The admin displays as expected.

I have made no changes to the site and my host is investiagting the server as we speak.

However, if i change template, everything is OK?

Has anyone experienced this before and if so how was it fixed?

there are similar threads on the Joomla forums, but I have yet to found a solution.

It would appear that something in the index.php of the template is causing the problem.

      Thanks

    • Maybe something changed in your index.php. How about trying to replace your current index.php with the default sporticus_v2 index.php ?

    • For what it is worth, when trying to access your site with Firefox I also get a blank page, with IE6 I get an error "cannot find server etc". This happened to several of my sites a few months ago, they had worked fine for over a year, then suddenly ... blank pages/cannot find server ... depending on the browser used.

My (then) host, a UK company, kept promising to investigate and reporting "no errors", but nothing improved, the problem seemed to be in the accessing of the MySQL server.

In the end I transferred all the sites to a different host, made no other changes, and they have all worked perfectly since.

    • I just did a fresh install of the sporticus v2 template, same problem.

I came to the same conclusion about two hours and am going to change hosts.

I was with a uk company on a reseller acoount with about 30 sites and over 100 domains so its going to be painful.

I think it's my only option.

Going for a dedicated server, have no idea about servers, best place to learn is the sharp end.

    • Make a copy of the index.php from your template and then replace it with this file:

    • yes just the one domain.

Although I have had a few issues with joomla with this host over the years.

But this is the first not to display and serve no error messages.

    • Ok

Between postings I called ny host and directly accused of them of it bing their fault depite their previous:

" intermittent errors are hard to identify etc blah blah"

This time they admitted to having some problems with connections on port 80 which prevented connections with external data sources.

I had an external rss feed on the home page that was timing out.

Turned it off and now its working again!

Thanks for everyones help and it proves I was right in the first place, hosts fault!

Hope it helps someone in the future.

All the rror message were generated by to try and find the problem, they shoudl have gone now.

      Thnaks Frano

In my excitement I type too quick, all the correct letters are there but not nessecarilly in the right order!
