An observation after using J 3.0 for a while...

It's not that great.
The different between J! 1.5 and J! 1.6 (1.7/2.5) was MASSIVE.
But the difference between 2.5 and 3.0 is marginal. The benefits seem few.
Even though sites with 2.5 will reach EOS in 2014, I don't see 3.5 being good enough to make the move until 2.5 sites are crumbling.
Tell me if you think I'm wrong, or if I'm just missing something massive. - Show Support for These Requests...

You are not missing anything. We constantly advise members not to use J3.0 for their production web sites because it is just not ready yet. Even Joomla core developers suggest the same. I really don't understand why people don't want to hear the "words of wisdom"

I'm not using it in a production site. It's really not an issue with bugs though; my gripe is the lack of features. I don't expect 3.5 to be much better. - Show Support for These Requests...

- And yet Joomla.org says: "Download Joomla! 3.1 (Recommended for most new sites)" - I'm baffled by that. I'm waiting, if only because some of my favorite extensions are still working on J3 version.

I REALLY love the J30 look and feel compared to J25. The only thing I don't like, is how they designed creating menu items. It is much easier to filter through elements (Page Display, Advanced Settings, Setting page title, etc) in 2.5, and it seems more of a chose in J30,
I am not a fan of the speed at which they are rolling out all these updates when J3 isn't ready for production sites. I think they should chill out and get 3 up to speed before they pust 5 because 3 is fantastic.
I am not one to disregard words of wisdom, but I am using j3 on 2 sites right now and so far I am loving it, with the most involved being a ecommerce HikaShop based business. I don't feel comfortable making the upgrade on my sites that have my major and more involved elements and components yet though.
If it weren't for these forums, I would probably be chasing the latest recommended update.
