Newbie Question - User Permissions

  • Newbie Question - User Permissions

    • I have a feeling that this is a general Joomla question, but I'm not sure.

I created a menu item for submitting news. When you click on this, it is suppose to bring up the front end editor so that people can add their own news to the site. However, if I am logged in as admin it works fine, but if I log in as a normal user I just get a message telling me that I do not have permission to access the page. I guess I have to authorize someone to be able to add news via this link. So, I have a two part question:

      1. Is there a setting I can change that will allow any registered user to add news with this link so that I don't have to authorize 1,000 people to do so?

      if not...

      2. Is there a file I can edit to customize the page that gives the message about not having permission?

I would really like for anyone to be able to add their news. If I catch someone abusing it, it's easy enough to delete the post and IP block them with htaccess. I have at least 100 different places that are always sending me their press releases to add, and I would like to be able to migrate them to adding it themselves without waiting for them to register, then finding and approving their account. It would be much easier if anyone who is registered can contribute.
