  • Can the Dimensions template list articles of a particular category on one page?

    • Hey everyone!

      I have a question. I'm redesigning our church's website and I want to create a dynamic page where all of our sermon synopses can be listed by their title on one page. However, I'm not sure what "type" of content it needs to be so that the Dimensions Joomla template will recognize that category of articles/content to be something that can be listed.

      Here's the prototype of our redesigned site using a modification of the Dimensions template:

      and when you click on "Pastor's Messages", I'd like the viewer to be taken to a page where all the content in that category/section will be listed by title (containing an link to the article) with a brief summary and possibly a publish date.

      The "Features" page in the Dimensions demo is an example of what I'm trying to achieve:

      Is this something that is created dynamically based on the type of content you have, say a "Blog-content" for example, and when the list gets beyond a certain number (say 20) it will produce a "<Previous 1.. 2.. 3.. Next>" type link at the bottom of the page? ... or is this something that has to be manually created and modified? I haven't really found a good definition for what type of content should be used for a specific purpose. So, I've been making all my content "static-content" for now. Our "Ministries" page is an example of a static page where I'm manually entering content to summarize what is on the pages that contain detailed information about each ministry. I'd like to do this dynamically and not have to update and copy/paste links everytime I add a new ministry. I'm sure I'm missing something, and my brain is a bit fried at the moment. :D

    • Woo-HOO! I figured it out! I had to understand the concept of a "Content Item" versus "Static Content". Page 72 of the Joomla manual explained it to me. :D

      Once I converted the documents to "Content Item"s and put all of the articles in the same category, they showed up as a list. :)
