Hi to All! I'm new here, switching from an inferior CMS -- so please be kind if I'm being too much of a newbie
My problem: How to integrate a forum into the template of the main site?
Andy's Solution: The solution published here is at once so obvious and so clear that I can't see why it was a problem in the first place
New Difficulty: Assuming that I follow that advice and I unwrap the forum and give it the same look and feel as the main site, how do I get the common login? I logged in to the main site on Rockettheme.com, clicked Forum, and came here to find myself logged in -- how was that done? I am happy to use any forum that people recommend, as long as I can get the common login as here.
I know I am again missing something obvious and am steeling myself for an onslaught of RTFM responses -- but I trust from browsing this forum that I'm dealing with a nicer group!
Don't worry about being a newbie. All were newbies at sometime, isn't it?
Anyway, the best solution for a forum with Joomla is
SMF
, used with the Joomla-SMF Bridge available at that site. Another bridge is also available at joomlahacks as mentioned in the post above.
You can see a demo here at RocketTheme or at my sites:
Joomlaspan
and
Medspan
.
As for the theme for a wrapped forum, which visually integrates into Joomla as well, follow this BROKEN LINK REMOVED
Thanks, Shashikiran and Stewart -- these are great replies. Good advice and pointers to great resources and examples. I have enough to do the job, I believe, and I hope to come back with a product in the site showcase.
Thanks also for the welcoming notes to a newcomer.
I'm also a newbie with this. I've got my template operating as I want. I've also installed SMF to the server. Can you point me exactly to where I can get the Joomla-SMF bridge? I looked here:
www.joomlahacks.com/component/option,com...1/func,select/id,50/
But only see vBridge and phpBB Bridge. Can you please help me out?
