How can I tell which template is faster/lighter?

Other than using a stopwatch to see how fast each template loads, how can I compare one template to another for load speeds and general template weight?
I'm not looking for suggestions for a light template, I'm asking how I can actually measure it myself. I want to compare one of Rocketheme's to one of Joomlart's.

If you are a Firefox user download and install the
Fasterfox
extension. Once installed open the Fasterfox options and enable (if need be) the page timer (see pics).
