Only top-tier breadcrumb linkable?

I just now noticed that only the top-tier of my breacrumbs (Home) is actually linkable; is this by design?
I thought each should be linkable, so how would one go about making each linkable? (e.g., Home -> Blog -> Terp -> Etc)
It's late...fell asleep on the couch after a long week and just woke up (like X-Mas waiting on the March template!), so if this makes no sense, I'll try to restate the question.
