I did a search and found this...
www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?t=26191&rb_v=viewtopic
Your favicon path is www/yourjoomlasite/images or your very first images folder when you go into your joomla folder.
For creating favicons in Photoshop, download the plugin from here www.telegraphics.com.au/sw/ and then it's just a matter of doing a save as.... choosing ICO (windows format) as the file type.

This is my favorite Favicon Generator ---> www.favicon.cc/ ; Plus, the cool t-shirt feature which allows you to turn your favicon into a t-shirt design (great for promotional) rocks. No, I am not an affiliate for them.
I just like that you can make your favicon on the fly with a preview.

Sorry for the confusion, lol; in my originl reply to your post I had accidently clicked the Modify button rather than the Quote button, I didn't notice until after I had clicked Submit. Once I realized my mistake, I edited your post to remove my comment (hence the Edited By Roland Deschain at the bottom of your post) and created a new Quoted post.
