    CB or other problem???

Posted 16 years 6 months ago
    • Hello Joomla! Gurus ;D

I have a problem (for a long time now) that I can't solve in my website when I open a CB profile page. First, the error message appear then the profile is displayed normally. See the screenshot to understand exactly what I mean.
I tried to solve this problem without result. I don't have any module published above the main page in this category!

I'm not sure to post in the right forum and I don't think it's really a CB problem; I have the same CB version installed in other website but I don't have this issue...

      Any help is welcome.

    • It means there is something trying to display on the page you do not have permissions for, you dont really give any stats for your particular case,, but I assume this login is at registered level?? try experimenting and set this user to publisher and see if you get the same error.

I have found that I get this error message with components settings and user privledges not compatible ,,, typical offenders are any content creation components that have display in the CB page,, like My Blog or My Content,, or Alpha Content... they tend to want author or publisher privledges and a simple registered member will not have access to those features

there is a long thread over at Joomla, org on these kinds of issues as well,,,, check there too

      Hi CG Icon,

Sorry, I don't understand exactly what you mean... The profiles can be viewed by public and the level of login is set to registered.

    • yes, see, your members are at the permission level of registered... but often ( and I am not saying for sure this is your problem ).... but often you may have components and cb plugins looking for a minimum of Author membership by nature of the fact that they are content creation components, cb plugins etc etc...

so, because of just registered membership. it is letting you know with that warning at the top of CB that you may not be able to VIEW ALL portions of display-able content on that page because your not an author, or editor or publisher level.

there is a plugin at joomla.org that allows you to set min level at registration,, min on my site is author... In my opinion,,, By nature of a social community,, and using CB means you want users contributing content,, if so,, minimum level should be set to author,, the only time I would use registered is to create a "demo" login so a person could check out your site before signing up..

      Have a great day!!!!! ;D

    • ;D ok, I understand now (I think) ;D
Some of the components in profiles are set indeed to registered member views. It's the case for mp3 player for example. I will change to public access and let you know.

      Thx.

    • Well, I tried to set author level to one of my members, also played around with access level of some component/plugins for CB but nothing change. When I look at the code with firebug I can't see watch component/plugin is realted to the problem :-[

    • do you have any of your components set to registered,, primarily the ones on your main menu??

things like fireboard and the such sometimes gives this error when set to registered instead of the default "public"

      ....

somewhere you have a permissions problem.. when I had this I turned everything off,, unpublished everything and slowly worked my way through by testing and troubleshooting......one by one turning things back on and refreshing,,, eventually I found the problem..... you may need to do the same.
