3 Column Lay-out question

I am using HiveMind 3 column layout, which I like for the homepage. However, I'm finding some of my longer articles need more space in the subpages. So my question--is there a way to only have a left column in the sub-pages? I have unpublished all the left column modules for the particular sub-pages, but the main content text still stops where the left column modules would normally be. Any suggestions?
