Search Engine Friendly URLs breaks demo site completely

Posted 16 years 10 months ago
    • Just uploaded a fresh install of Media Mogul, new directory, new database, demo content.

In the global configuration, I enable the Search Engine Friendly URLs.

Immediately, any menus, links etc from the home page are broken. In FireFox I just get a message "Input File Not Specfied" and in IE a 404 error.

I change the SEF setting back, everything works again.

Suggestions welcome. I'm not a Joomla expert, so please assume little / no knowledge.

    • Not sure why this was moved? But a response would still be welcome.

Or have I missed the forum post buried somewhere that says RT themes dont work with Joomla SEF URLs?

    • Is this Joomla 1.0.x or 1.5.x? Did you change the .htaccess as directed by SEF?

    • Hi and thanks for your replies.

t's Joomla 1.5 - .3 I think, I got it from the latest rocketlauncher package for the mediamogul template.

No, I hadnt changed the htaccess file. In the Joomla Admin > Global Config > site config it said something about this only being for Apache servers... The help file didnt make much sense to me either I'm afraid. I'm pretty new to the thick end of web design/admin.

I do have one question - now that I've built some content (at www.thesplash.com.au ) if I change to use SEF URLs (and whatever else I need to do to get them working) do I need to rework my site again and re-link everything?

Thanks both again for your advice.
