    • I would like to create several dumming module position with in RT templates. The reason is that I am using a component, that requires me to have module positions that are not being used. I just want to create several positions that will be recognized by J1.5 and that is not actually part of template itself. Confusing....sorry if it is.

      I know in Joomla 1.0.x I can easily create the module positions. That is not the case with J1.5.x. The Module position is part of the template. I also know that you can go within a module and then just type the module position that you want in there. Tried that, and didn't work.

      The reason why I would like to edit the positions is because of
      tools.gavick.com/help/TabsManagerHelpFile.pdf  ; and then page 8/12

      If your template has the module position built in and on display (for example left), then the tab will display the same content as the left. This is why it is useful to choose (or edit) a template so that it has included module positions which arn’t actually part of the template (so you can then use them for the TabMods).

      I hope this makes sense and someone can help me with it. Thanks.

    • In Joomla 1.5, if you double click on the positions field in the module settings, you can type in the positions manually.

    • Yes, I tried that and it didn't work. It is weird to explain, but I want a module position that will be recognized by components/module in the back end, but wont actually alter the templates.

      This is the reason I wrote, this is from the component description:

    • Well, they are loaded from templateDetails.xml

      <positions>
      <position>left</position>
      </positions>

      So you can add your own <position>s in that block.
