    • I am very new at this so please excuase me if I am in the wrong place. This is my problem
I need help. I want to insert a picture into an article on the front page. I went to article manager and selected the article and when I used the “insert/edit image icon and the resultant page asked me for the url of the picture. The picture is at C:\Users\Professpr\Downloads\classroom.jpeg. When I put that address in, nothing happened. If I put in www.spacegrant.nau.edu/stargazer/Classroom%20group.JPG , I get the picture I want. I have many, many pictures on my computer I want to use while I build this demo. My question is how do I get the pictures on my computer to appear on my article if this example did not work. I am using /joomla15/Joomla_RT_Elemental_j15. Please tell me what I am doing wrong.

    • Place the images you want to use in your articles into the stories folder, it located here: joomla/images/stories

      A) Don't confuse 'joomla/images/stories' 'joomla/templates/template_name/images'.

      B) To make things easier to organize, you can add sub-folders 'joomla/images/stories', 'joomla/images/stories/classroom', 'joomla/images/stories/students', etc.

When using a WYSIWYG editor clicking on 'add image' will by default, open this directory.

Then you can browse through the directory and its subdirectories and insert the image you need.

    • Whoa... Elemental...?

That's from a long time ago!

Anyway, from what I remember, there are six preset styles....

You'll have to put your logo in the folder for the style you're using.

Are you using: joomla15\Joomla_RT_Elemental_j15\templates\rt_elemental_j15\images\primary\blue\, or another color scheme?

Also, you have to name the logo exactly as it's named in that folder to be recognized.

Usually it's logo.png, in your example, header_logo.png, I don't know if that's the name or if you changed it.

(You can change the name, but then you have to edit some other files for it to display properly.)

Anyway, you can delete, overwrite, or rename the original logo.png, and replace it with your own.

Also remember to clear your cache!!

    • I use using the wrong color scheme. It is working correctly now. May I ask you one one question?
I have 4 articles on an inside page, not the front page. Their order is backward from the number I gave them. I have them as 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 But they are being displayed as 4 - 3 - 2 - 1.
I cleaned the cash and did a disk clean up and rebooted. I am stick. Maybe I should bout them in their own section and catogory?
      Thanks

    • What type of menu?

Usually in a Blog format, the Article you published last will be the first Article to appear on the page because it's the newest.

You can change the setting by editing the Menu Item settings. (Parameters Advanced)

But you should be able to change the order of the Articles in the Article Manager.

Unless you have LOTS of content or really want to go crazy organizing your content, you don't need too many Sections but Categories are a nice way to organize menu items.

(Not telling how to organize your stuff, only you know what's best, but...)

But let's take one step back...

Do you already have Sections / Categories set up?

To make a Category, you'll need at least on Section.

      Anyway, if you haven't already:

Create a Section called 'Home' or 'Main', or whatever...

Create a Category for your Articles, name it what you like, I'll call it 'Four Articles'

Go back to your Articles, re-save them under Home (Section) Four Articles (Category)

Go to the Menu Manager, create a New Menu, for this example, Category Blog Layout, Name it what you like; 'Four Articles', 'Interesting Stuff', etc.

On the right hands side of the Menu Item screen, under Parameters (Basic), choose the Category 'Home/Four Articles'.

      Save the changes.

      Go to the Article Manager

Use the sort filters for Section (Home) and Category (Four Articles)

Your Articles will appear, you can change the order and save your changes.
