External Link and assigned template background

  • External Link and assigned template background

    • Hi I have 2 menus. Each are assigned to a different template (both chromatophore). The only difference between the templates are the backgrounds and the menu items. Where menu A is the mainmenu for template A and menu B has been duplicated from menu A but customized to fit template B.

The issue I am having is that when I link to an article through an xml file the article which lies under categories that are linked to menu B's menu items, shows up with menu A's background instead of menu B's background (template B). Even though the content item that the xml file lives in is within menu B and menu B's template. Anybody know how to fix this issue? Is there a way to work around this without having to add a menu item to menu B?

Below are links to show what I mean:

Click on any event on this page:

      www.eventfactor.net/index.php?option=com...icle&id=63&Itemid=35

It opens up a new window with the appropriate background and logo (reads New York)

Now click on any event on this page (which lies under template B, and has menu B active now)

      www.eventfactor.net/index.php?option=com...cle&id=84&Itemid=208

When you click on a calendar item here it shows up with the New York (menu A / template A) background. Instead of the proper Charlotte background you see on the other menu items here (events, gallery etc.).

I am using 1.5 any help would be appreciated thank you

    • The article would have to be linked within the Joomla menu system for it to work properly as Joomla is completely dependent on the menu system for its operation.

    • For anyone having this issue and looking for a way around it I found this posting that allows you to assign templates to a section and bypass joomla's menu system. Works like a charm!!
