    I need serious help!

Posted 16 years 8 months ago
    • I had my site running perfectly with Joomla 1.5.0 and then decided to upgrade to 1.5.6 I downloaded the zip file, unzipped it, then used Transmit FTP software to upload to the server. Now I get the following error when I goto my site:

Warning: main() [function.main]: Unable to access /home/busboy/public_html/reliefmine/libraries/joomla/utilities/compat/php50x.php in /home/busboy/public_html/reliefmine/libraries/joomla/utilities/compat/compat.php on line 26

Warning: main(/home/busboy/public_html/reliefmine/libraries/joomla/utilities/compat/php50x.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/busboy/public_html/reliefmine/libraries/joomla/utilities/compat/compat.php on line 26

Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/busboy/public_html/reliefmine/libraries/joomla/utilities/compat/php50x.php' (include_path='.:/usr/php4/lib/php') in /home/busboy/public_html/reliefmine/libraries/joomla/utilities/compat/compat.php on line 26

If I resort to using the RocketLauncher, what version of Joomla will be installed? 1.5.0? How can I do this and not destroy some of the modules and such that I have in place? I assume my articles are still safely located in the database, right?

      Can someone please help?

      God bless you!

    • Before you reinstall....

      1. Are you sure you used the correct patch?
      2. Have you tried re-uploading the files, some might have been dropped during the FTP.
      3. Can you upload the zipped patch, extract it on the server and copy the files to your Joomla directory?

      4. You could try to upload all the files for the original template package to get things working as they were. Again, if you can, upload the zipped package, extract it on the server and copy the files to your Joomla directory, not only will it save time, you'll be assured all the file made it to the server.

If you do a reinstall, you're going to lose any changes you've made to the files, for example, your index.php, template.css.css, etc. you may want to back up those files and try to salvage them later.

If that doesn't work, you may have to reinstall and restore (or install) the DB from a back-up.

In which case, you'd be best off creating a new directory and database, not deleting the files and database untill you have the fresh install working.

Next time, before you apply patches:

      1. Back up your database!

      2. Make a copy of all the files of your current install.

Not trying to be funny, happened to me a couple of times....
