Creating a friendlier you are not authorized to submit news message

  • Creating a friendlier you are not authorized to submit news message

    • I have a question and have attached a jpg of an error message. When someone joins my site they are set to default as a registered user. When they view the user menu on the site one of the selections is submit news. When a registered user clicks this link they get a generic rather ugly 403 error (see attachment).

If I set the user account to author they do not get the error so I assume its a simple permissions issue. I would like to create a more user friendly message than this generic. Something like an article or form that explains the process to obtain elevated rights where they can email the site admin. Has anyone done something similar or have any other suggestions.

      Thank you

      Mark

    • Mark,

You can edit the error page to change the text / styling of this warning.

      It's located in templates/system/error.php

Let me know if that helps,

      Cheers, Matt

    • its best to copy error.php into the template root, which makes an override (then if an upgrade replaces the file in system, it does not affect your error page!)

Time to create page: 0.064 seconds
