Okay, so now, they've decided to add a shopping cart. Uh... we never talked about that, but anyway...
What is the general consensus? What is the easiest way to implement a shopping cart that a client might be able to update in the future?
In the past, I've used PayPal's shopping cart, but that would seem to labor intensive for a client to handle.
Is there a plug-in available that integrates with PayPal?
Obviously, I'm trying to avoid the whole she-bang: SSL certificate, some kind of shopping cart software, merchant accts, etc.
What do you think? What is the best way to do this?
A big consideration is if they want downloadable products or will be shipping physical items.
I use VirtueMart (shop in development) and also 2Checkout - correction to my post - you CAN sell physical good with 2CO. 2CO can be used with or without shopping cart software and it's easy to administer, products can be uploaded right into 2CO and then you get HTML code to paste into your product pages for purchasers to buy through.
Using VirtueMart, I would recommend an SSL certificate even if you use Paypal or 2CO to process payments. It gives the customer that added "warm fuzzy"...prices vary but Register.com currently has a pretty good deal going on their basic certs.
